Nat ready to play murder mystery host in 1920s Vancouver!

Vancouver has been an adventure to expand into! Chris Rudram, our founder, started the company on Vancouver Island, but when co-owner Natasha moved to the mainland, so did the murder mysteries!

Across the Salish Sea

Natasha and Chris had been working together for nearly five years, when an opportunity arose for Nat to relocate to Vancouver. The collaborators talked about the move a lot - and what it might mean for Enigmatic Events Collective. The pair wanted to continue to work together, but with a body of water separating them, there had to be some discussion about what a long-distance professional relationship would look like! With Chris staying in Victoria and Natasha headed to Vancouver, there needed to be some strategies to continue the collaboration.

Miracles of the Internet

During the pandemic, Nat and Chris had started collaborating online. Using tools like Topia, Google docs, and Canva the pair were able to keep up with one another and combine efforts on work documents and new media. Because of this foundation, they were able to pivot some events to an online space and run murder mysteries for participants all over the world! Companies with international teams were hosted through Zoom and teams who had never met in person were able to come together for engaging and interactive events.

Hosting these online murder mysteries both separately and together allowed the co-owners to build confidence! Not only was this time used to try new formats of hosting murder mysteries, it also allowed the team to create new offers for the future!

After Natasha had settled into Vancouver, and grown her hosting skills over the course of 2020, Enigmatic Events Collective announced our expansion! In February of 2021, the Enigmatic Events Instagram announced “Hello, Vancouver!” and the company has only grown since!

As one of the cities in Canada with many historical buildings and tons of gourmet restaurants, it is easy to find a venue to host a murder mystery party! With Enigmatic Events, clients can source their own spaces, or request help in finding a venue. Previous events in Vancouver have been held at award-winning restaurants, hotels, company headquarters, and private homes.

Natasha Guerra is a theatre artist, a Big Picture person, and a curator of fun. Onstage since the age of four, Natasha has personal experience working with the power of storytelling. An avid learner with an eye for the aesthetic, they have since taken on projects from fine art, to set decoration, to playing faux murderers. Armed, now, with a BFA (with double majors to the tune of Applied Theatre and Gender Studies), Natasha has migrated back to Vancouver, and wants to use her training to help people do two of the hardest things in life: have fun and learn.
